Heptonstall Church
The "new" church in Heptonstall (which is dedicated to St. Thomas the Apostle) was completed in 1854, the "old" church (which was dedicated to St. Thomas O' Beckett) having fallen in to disrepair following a storm in 1847.
The ruins of the old church stand adjacent to the new, and just outside the main (shared) churchyard is a small cemetery which contains the grave of the American writer Sylvia Plath.
Bronte Country is designed, maintained and promoted by Eagle Intermedia Publishing Ltd.
