The Witches of Pendle
The so called "Witches of Pendle" were a group of locals from around the district of Pendle in East Lancashire who were tried and executed for witchcraft at Lancaster and York in 1612.
In total ten of the nine women and two men sent to trial were found guilty and hanged, making the Pendle Witch Trials one of the most notorious in English legal history.
