Saltaire - a World Heritage Site
In December 2001 Saltaire (an industrial village built by Sir Titus Salt on the outskirts of Bradford in the heart of West Yorkshire's Bronte Country) was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
This success of the bid was largely thanks to the hard work of a dedicated group of locals who mounted a successful campaign to get the village recognised for its historical significance at the international level.
