Ted Hughes
The poet Ted Hughes was born in a small terraced house in Mytholmroyd - a small Pennine town not far from Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire's Bronte Country .
In 1956 Ted Hughes married Sylvia Plath, who committed suicide just seven years later and is buried in the churchyard at nearby Heptonstall.
Ted Hughes was appointed Poet Laureate in 1984, a position which he held until his death in 1998. Collections of poetry include "The Hawk in the Rain" and "Crow", and Hughes was also the author of a book for children "The Iron Man".
